# Medication Safety Check

**Afgelopen week verscheen het RIVM-rapport 'Medicatie-incidenten als gevolg van gebruiksonvriendelijke IT-systemen'. Hierin wordt gesteld dat fouten vaak worden veroorzaakt door gebruiksonvriendelijke computersystemen. Voor voorschrijvers is het bijvoorbeeld vaak lastig om het juiste medicijn uit de lijst met medicijnnamen te selecteren.**

 

SmartMed werkt daarom bij de ontwikkeling van haar medicatiemanagementsoftware nauw samen met de eindgebruikers, waarbij gebruiksvriendelijkheid en intuïtieve schermen uitgangspunten zijn voor optimale patiëntveiligheid. Door de applicatie te voorzien van allerlei validatie- en controlemechanismen zorgen wij ervoor dat menselijk falen tot een minimum wordt beperkt. Overigens voldoet SmartMed vanzelfsprekend ook aan de veiligheidsnormen zoals vastgesteld in de ISO27001 en NEN 7510 richtlijnen.

Om de patiëntveiligheid steeds verder te helpen verbeteren maken wij gebruik van een 'Medication Safety Tool'. Dit is een elektronisch hulpmiddel dat feilloos inzichtelijk maakt welke handelingen moeten worden verricht om het totale medicatie proces stap voor stap te verbeteren. Het resultaat van het gebruik van ons 'Medication Safety Tool' is o.a. dat goed duidelijk wordt wat de impact is op de patiëntveiligheid.
