CareSoft with its PIS (Pharmacy Information System) is an established name as a software supplier for the community pharmacy market and expects with the acquisition by SmartMed to offer its users a successful future. "We are very happy with this acquisition because SmartMed ensures that the product and team of CareSoft maintain a future in the Dutch pharmacy market" says Rianne Wubs, CEO CareSoft. "The acquisition not only offers continuity to the users of CareSoft, but also a strategy and development plan. With SmartMed we have found a party that fits our pragmatic culture, focused on the wishes of our customers". For the time being CareSoft will continue to operate under its own name and all employees will be retained for the organization.
Ywe ten Kate, pharmacist at SmartMed: "Pharmacists tell us that they have a growing need for efficient operations and logistics. At the same time they are looking for ways to improve the development of pharmacotherapeutic care around patients. Themes such as collaboration between different care providers and medication safety in the region play a role in this". In the coming period we will continue to work on the development of a modern, future-oriented software platform that gives substance to this. The acquisition of CareSoft, including the wishes and experiences of the CareSoft users, makes an important contribution to achieving this goal.
SmartMed, founded in 2016, focuses on the development of a specialized software platform for medication management in the Netherlands for hospitals, institutions and pharmacies. Recently the company launched and implemented its solution SmartMed Hospital at Gelre hospitals in Apeldoorn and Zutphen. Alfred Godeke, CEO SmartMed: "We started SmartMed with the ambition to offer a user-friendly, future-oriented solution for healthcare providers and patients in both the second and first line in the Netherlands. With the acquisition of CareSoft we accelerate our strategy and strengthen our position in the market. Stimulated by the success of our hospital solution, we are convinced of the possibilities for community pharmacies". As a result of the acquisition SmartMed grows to over 40 employees.
