SmartMed launches SmartMed Hospital Release 3.3

SmartMed launches SmartMed Hospital Release 3.3
SmartMed has provided the SmartMed Hospital application with a new version 3.3. We explain what positive consequences this has for the end user.

After evaluation with the users, it appeared that there was a clear desire to further improve the application and expand it functionally. The SmartMed development team, in collaboration with the hospitals, has been working hard on this in recent months. The new release contains a lot of technical changes compared to the existing release. Teething troubles have been solved and a lot of functionality has been adjusted. This results in a stable, even more user-friendly application with significantly enriched functionality.

Important changes are:

Outpatient prescription

Prescribing medication during an outpatient visit did not always work well on the basis of integration with EPD visits, which sometimes resulted in a lack of clarity about patient, medication and administration information. The solution in the new release is the module 'time based prescribing'. The registered outpatient visits are no longer used as a starting point, making it easier for the prescriber to prescribe.

Electronic sending of recipes

The new release provides for the electronic transmission of prescriptions to community and outpatient pharmacies. For this SmartMed has successfully completed the qualification process at VZVZ. Sending prescriptions electronically saves a considerable amount of time for prescribers and support staff. This improvement creates more time for the prescriber to spend on patient contact, and more time for the receiving pharmacy to process the prescription application.

Digital recording / dismissal form

This release includes digital forms to store medication information during the admission and discharge process. At each visit, all information relevant during admission or discharge can be stored. These forms also contain a checklist to support the care worker in the work.

For example, the continued use of home medication during admission or the assessment of inhalation or intravenous medication and the reversal of substitution upon discharge.

Choice of distribution models

In the new release it is possible to choose from different forms of patient-specific distribution, depending on the working method of the hospital pharmacy.

Add On medication

The registration of Add On medication has been improved and meets the requirements. With this, this process has been secured and made transparent.

Implementation becomes easier

At a next implementation with the known EPD's of SmartMed a significantly simpler implementation project is expected with correspondingly less consumption of resources and budget.

EPD integration

An integration procedure has been developed for both SAP and Nexus environments. This is available for reuse by future customers. The links to external sources are also available 'from stock'.
